What is the Average Salary of a Construction Manager?

Construction managers can earn very stable salaries if they are well-educated and have good job experience or on-the-job training. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that construction managers earned between $56,090 and $98,350 in May 2006. Many construction managers work as independent contractors or can even become leaders of their own firms. Building equipment contractors earned the highest median salary, at $75,200. Electrical contractors earned 74,380, nonresidential building construction managers earned 74,080, and residential building construction managers earned the lowest of the range, at 69,400. Construction managers with extra professional certificates in green building or another niche area may be able to demand higher paychecks for their projects.
